Vienna Pride 2022

Location: Vienna

After 3 years, it was finally time again for a proper Pride Parade in Vienna! I've been looking forward to this a long time as it's always a lot of fun!

Saturday

I arrived a bit late, about half an hour after the parade started. Tabbie and Spikie were already waiting at the Parking garage where we quickly turned into a bat and a fox and joined the fun outside! The parade moved slowly and it was a perfect sunny day! Party trucks were blasting classic electro house tunes and the atmosphere was fantastic.

Part of the massive crowd.

Baseball and Tabbie got loads of attention with lots of people asking for photos and many small kids having a fun time interacting with them. Eventually we also found Goddy and a couple other friends. After being in the sun for maybe 1.5 hours Tabbie and Spikie decided to take a break. I also went after them but lost them in the crowd, which was a bit unfortunate since I had no way to contact anyone. I asked some friendly strangers to use their phone and eventually we met up at the garage again.

In order to catch up with the others we wanted to take the car and go further down the route, but that was too slow so we parked at a different garage close by and went there by public transport.

By that time we pretty much arrived at the same point in the parade that we've been at earlier, we had a lot of fun with people and Baseball enjoyed some good music and danced with people!

We didn't manage to catch up with the bigger group which was more in the front, and after about 5 hours of suiting we called it quits and took an Uber back to our garage. Tabbie and Spikie had enough for the day and went home. I met up with Goddy, Naunan, Yamavu, Entropie and others at Rathauspark and brought some cold drinks.

People were hanging out in the park afterwards.

Since Rathauspark was hopelessly crowded, we went to Volksgarten instead where it was a bit more relaxed. We could still here the great music mixes coming from the big party at Rathausplatz, but my energy for the day was expended. We stayed a bit and chatted, and eventually Goddy, Yamavu and I went to McDonalds to grab a bite, then I went home and slept for 11 hours.

It was great! I can't wait for next year! (I should remember to bring some more isotonic drinks though). Also, huge thanks to Spikie for spotting and figuring things out!
