Location: Mehrzweckhalle des ESV München Ost
On very short notice, Atura and I decided to attend VCFe. I've been curious about it, but due to high trian ticket prices and lots of other things going on, didn't plan on going. Since Atura was also interested and had a car, we decided to just go for it.
We drove off from Vienna at around 6:40, I had my first ever McMuffin (meh) and we arrived around 12:00, after parking the car in an expensive garage. The event was held in a multi purpose hall in the outskirts of Munich.
First impression: The event was smaller than expected. It used only about a third of the hall, the other part was being used by kids for gymnastics. The attendees seemed to be mostly from Bavaria, it seems VCFe has less of a pull than other VCF events.
We paid entrance, and checked out every exhibit.
The first one was by a fellow Austrian showing off his MUPEN computer. The name rang a bell, and I remembered that this was a microcomputer that was developed in Graz. It came with built in BTX capabilities, and the exhibitor created a program that scraped the ARD Teletext from the website and sent it to the MUPEN over serial port, emulating a BTX server. Very cool!

The next exhibit was a a complete 90s video production setup. He had a talk at 10:15, which I sadly missed, but was happy to show me all the ins and outs of his setup.

You can find a video about the Movie Machine here.
Here are some more impressions of VCFe:

After checking out everything and having some food, we decided to go straight back home, since we had enough time. It was a long day but also fun to meet and nerd out with people!
