Vienna Pride 2024

Location: Vienna

Once again, the Pride Parade happened in Vienna. Possibly my favorite event of the year. We were very lucky as it rained almost the entire week before, but we had a sunny day with 27°C. A few degrees less wouldn't have hurt, but I can't complain.

Saturday

Tabbie and Spikie came in the morning and picked up Henrieke and me. I brought a whole lot of cold drinks, this time not forgetting isotonic drinks. We parked at a garage close to the start of the parade and got into fursuits right away. I tried a PCM cooling vest for the first time, and it worked amazingly! Tabbie was overheating soon, and I was barely breaking a sweat. Definitely getting more of those cooling packs!

The start of the parade

People were in a great mood, and unlike the year before, the police were not looking stressed out, all went well! The music was great as always, though a bit less my taste this year. What I did like is that despite some incidents, I heard "L'Amour Toujours" several times, despite racists trying to claim this song. No, you can't claim the best Gigi D'Agostino song!

After suiting a while we went to McDonalds and watched the parade for a bit. Yamavu, Atura and Fabia joined us, though they didn't stay long. Henrieke went back home, and Tabbie and I suited again, with Spikie spotting us.

Baseball and Tabbie walked with the parade some more, danced with people and had a good time. Eventually we were really worn out and stopped. Tabbie gave me a ride back home, and despite earlier plans to still hang out in the park, none of us had any energy left.

An overview of the parade

It was a great day, and I'm definitely looking forward to next year, hopefully even more prepared than last time! I regret not having had enough energy to stay longer, since then I could've seen Conchita Wurst and Groove Coverage (they still exist apparently!) on stage.
