Vienna Comix 2026

Location: Marx Halle

Here's a short summary of this year's Vienna Comix, the biggest Comic Market event in Austria and also my favorite! Unlike ultra-commercial events like <city name> Comic Con, this is still an event organized by the community, for the community. What also really sets this event apart is that the event very much appreciates the presence of Furries and other groups, like Star Wars cosplayers. We get our own dressing room with fans and even a shower, at most events we're happy if theres even a corner somewhere where we can dress up. Also big thanks to Goddy, who always does a great job organizing the Furry affairs.

Goddy, Henrieke and I took a taxi to the Marx Halle, which is a massive hall that used to be a cattle market 100 years ago. Only about a third of it was reserved for Comix, there was also a Titanic exhibition and an art fair happening at the same time.

We took about an hour to set up the table. Next to Henrieke was Ulrich Schröder and Massimo Fecchi, a legendary Italian Disney Artist who also used to draw Fix & Foxi, a popular Comic in Germany and Austria.

Sales went pretty okay for Henrieke. At 14:30, Baseball went to the group photo outside. Weather was perfect this time, not brutally hot like last year.

After the con closed today, we were invited to a dinner for artists and volunteers which was about 15 minutes walking. We walked together with Ulrich and a comic collector that he knew. At the restaurant, Henrieke got to chat a bit with Massimo, who did not really speak English. Conveniently, Ulrich spoke fluent Italian, so he translated back and forth. I had a good Schnitzel and after chatting a bit with Martin Erasmus, we left.

Today we managed to not forget our sketchbooks. We took a taxi again with Goddy to save some time, since we wanted to sleep as long as possible.

I stood in line for Massimo right away and chatted a bit with comic collectors.

There was another fursuit group photo today, as well as a general cosplay group photo, which was a bit more tricky as there were way too many people for a single photo.

I managed to get a sketch from Massimo, Henrieke got one as well later.

Mario and his girlfriend dropped by our table. We agreed last year to meet up for a coffee sometime, but somehow a year had passed. So this time we decided on a date, hope that works out better.

About an hour before closing, Tabbie, Spikie and Yoru showed up too! We got to chat a little bit, then packed up soon after.

Henrieke joined Ulrich and Massimo to a restaurant where Gerhard Förster inverviewed Massimo for his magazine "Die Sprechblase". I took a taxi with Goddy and dropped all the merch at our studio, then I walked home and flopped on the couch.
